As an intern at Plumbline I once came across a 3-inch binder completely filled with tiny sketches, drawings, notes and images. A closer look revealed the entire process, start to finish, 3 inches thick, of designing the Academy Studios identity. Though I did not work on the project, I would say that, based on the extensive and intricate contents of that binder, and the effective solution that resulted, we took Thomas Edison’s words to heart when he said, ‘There’s a better way to do it. Find it.'
Plumbline is an imaginative group with plenty of fresh ideas. They come in, take the time to learn what your about and then develop creative ways to promote/market/and identify your company. It’s as if they were an extension of our in house design team but more focused.
I love visiting Academy Studios. Its always cool to walk into their production facility and see something new – a tiger shark suspended on a truss, massive rock formations being painted, insects in Lucite panels. The best so far though was the Blue Whale Skeleton hanging from the ceiling. That was amazing.
